In short: hire a private air-conditioned vehicle with a multilingual driver for one day or for your whole trip. You choose the route and the stops; we quote a fixed price in advance for a vehicle sized to your group and luggage, and your driver picks you up at your hotel, riad, airport or port anywhere in Morocco.
A driver is the simplest way to see the parts of Morocco that trains do not reach: the High Atlas passes, the kasbahs of the Dades and Draa valleys, the Sahara, the Rif around Chefchaouen. You stop for a photo, a mint tea or a market when you want to, and nobody else in the car sets the pace.
Trains are good between Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca, Fes and Marrakech. South and east of Marrakech there is no railway, so the Atlas, the Dades Valley and the Sahara need a car. A driver also means door-to-door pick-up and stops wherever you like.
Your driver speaks English or French, knows the roads and the best stops, and explains the places you pass. Inside the medinas of cities like Fes and Marrakech, visits are led by licensed local guides, and we add one wherever you want it.
Most days are 3 to 6 hours of driving with stops. The longest is Marrakech to the Merzouga dunes, about 9 to 10 hours, which is why we usually split it with a night in the Dades Valley.
It depends on the number of days, the distance and the size of the vehicle, so every trip gets its own fixed quote. For a reference point, our private day trips from Marrakech cost about €90 per person for two travellers and from €25 per person for seven.
