Marrakech is where most Morocco trips begin: it has the most international flights, and every major route — the High Atlas, the kasbahs of Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley, the Sahara and the north — is within a day's drive. Merzouga, at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, is about 560 km from Marrakech — roughly nine to ten hours of driving, which is why the trip is split over two days with a night in the Dades Valley. Zagora is much closer, about seven hours away, which makes a 2-day desert trip possible.
Three days is the minimum we recommend for Merzouga. Two days to Zagora works if you are short on time; four or five days lets you travel without long driving days.
Yes. The 3-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour crosses the Sahara one way, so you see more and repeat no road. It is the best option if you fly out of Fes or continue north to Chefchaouen.
All of our tours are private: only your group travels in the vehicle, and you can change stops, hotels and timings. Prices per person fall as the group grows.
